In a night filled with drama and contrasting fortunes, Daniel Job stepped up with heroic flair for Egersund, while Soliu Afolabi’s bright moment ended in disappointment for FC Silon Taborsko.
Both 19-year-olds had a say in their respective cup and league battles, but only one emerged smiling, Footballrover reports.
Daniel Job delivers clutch equaliser in Norwegian Cup thriller
Daniel Job continued his exciting loan spell with Egersund as he played a crucial role in keeping their Norwegian Cup hopes alive on Wednesday evening.
Introduced in the 71st minute with Egersund trailing 2-1 against Ranheim in the Round of 32, Job proved to be the game-changer.
Ranheim had earlier taken the lead through Bendik Bye in the 23rd minute, only for Egersund’s Paya Pichkah to level in the 58th.
But within a minute, Bye turned provider for Vetle Wenaas to restore the home side’s advantage.
As time ticked away, Daniel Job came to the rescue. In the 94th minute, the substitute smashed in a dramatic equaliser to silence the Ranheim crowd and send the game into extra time.
His goal ensured Egersund didn’t leave the Ranheim Extra Arena empty-handed.
Neither side could find the winner in 30 minutes of added play, leading to a tense penalty shootout.
Egersund held their nerve, converting three of their four spot-kicks, while Ranheim faltered, missing three.
Egersund edged the shootout 3-2, with Daniel Job’s late-game brilliance proving vital.
Soliu Afolabi finds the net but can’t save FC Silon Taborsko
Meanwhile, in the Czech National Football League, Soliu Afolabi was on the scoresheet once again but couldn’t prevent a 3-1 defeat for FC Silon Taborsko against Vlasim.
Afolabi’s 34th-minute equaliser—his third of the season—offered hope after Vlasim had gone ahead in the 16th minute through Filip Lehky.
However, Lehky completed his brace in the 52nd minute before Josef Kolářík added a third to put the game beyond Taborsko’s reach.
Despite Soliu Afolabi’s individual effort, the loss sees Taborsko slide to 7th in the standings with 35 points, just one behind Vlasim, who moves up to 4th.
