After Monday’s NPFL match against the Kano Pillars, the head coach of Lobi Stars, Eugene Agagbe, revealed that his side was particularly unlucky not to secure the all-important victory and three points.
On matchday 18 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, the Pride of Benue were held to a 1-1 draw at Lafia Township Stadium by their northern rivals from Kano, Footballrover reports.
Both sides found the back of the net just before the interval and failed to hit targets in the second.
Stanley Ogabor scored the opening goal that put Lobi Stars ahead barely five minutes into the game, before Sulaiman Idris levelled the score for the Sai Masu Gida two minutes to the end of the first half.
Both sides failed to make their chances pay in the second period of the game, as they both ended up sharing the spoils after the final whistle.
While speaking to the media shortly after the game, Lobi Stars coach Agagbe claimed that his boys proved their worth and gave their best.
“My players were equal to the task. It is just unfortunate that we were unlucky with the result because you can see that we hit the goal post three times,” he said
With Lobi Stars moving to the top of the NPFL table despite the draw, Agagbe revealed that he and his boys will now remain focused and approach the coming games with more vigour.
Looking ahead, Coach Eugene Agagbe and his army will now prepare themselves for a fierce battle with Plateau United in the North Central derby on Sunday.
