Doma United Coach Akinade Onigbinde has expressed his excitement following the team’s hard-fought 1-0 victory against Kano Pillars at Pantami Stadium on Saturday.

The win not only extended their unbeaten streak to eight games but also propelled them to the top of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) table, Footballrover reports.

Doma United displayed huge resilience with a 1-0 triumph over Kano Pillars, securing the longest unbeaten streak this season in the NPFL.

Emmanuel Ekpeyong’s decisive strike in the 13th minute sealed the victory, thanks to their dominance on the field.

Coach Onigbinde emphasised the team’s focus on securing three crucial points, highlighting the challenges they faced and stating that,

We came back from Ilorin, where we played goalless with Kwara United, and our intention was to make sure we had the three points because, as you can see, there was fatigue in the players.”

The coach acknowledged that there were chances to score two goals during the initial half, including a penalty opportunity that unfortunately wasn’t converted.

However, the Doma coach praised his players for their commendable performance, admitting that securing the three points was crucial for them, ensuring they achieved their goal.

He went on to reveal his instructions to them ahead of the clash.

We know that Kano Pillars is a very good team; they play very good football, and we know they can break into your defence at any time, so thats why I told my defenders to be tactically disciplined in the defence line,” Coach Akinade said.

What’s noteworthy is Doma United’s defensive prowess, keeping a clean sheet for 405 minutes since their last concession against 3SC, a remarkable feat spanning 42 days.

Their impenetrable defence at home remains intact, adding to their impressive season statistics.
