Seven-time Nigeria Premier Football League Champion – Rangers International FC, has announced Chukwudi Nwaodu as their new team captain ahead of 2023/24 campaign.
The Midfield General was full of joy for the role, expressing determination to guide the team towards achieving its ambitious goals for the upcoming season and beyond.
Nwaodu, who took over the captain’s armband on Friday, August 4, 2023, shared his thoughts on his new responsibility.
“I must confess that I was excited when I was called up as the team captain and believe it is a call to service and hope to serve well in my capacity to make sure we take the ‘Flying Antelopes’ to where it rightly belongs,” Chukwudi Nwaodu noted.
The former Heartland FC of Owerri captain emphasized his commitment to bringing Enugu Rangers back to their rightful place among the football elite.
“I am sure that with the caliber of players in the team and the coach known for results, there will be no going back as we push for the best possible finish in both the NPFL and Federation Cup 2024. appeal to my teammates for their total cooperation and believe they are going to support this course,” he said.
Nwaodu also took a moment to address the loyal supporters of the ‘Flying Antelopes.
“I’m also calling on our teaming supporters to continue to be with us through their prayers and steadfast support during games for us to bring back the glory of our club,” he said.
The announcement of Nwaodu’s appointment was accompanied by the naming of the assistant captains.
Pacy winger, Chidiebere Nwobodo, has been appointed as the first assistant captain, while midfield maestro, Chinecherem Ugwueze, will serve as the second assistant captain.
This leadership reshuffle comes in the wake of the departure of former captain Uche John, who left the club upon the expiration of his contract to join Rivers United.
The assistant duo of Ebuka Anthony and Ugwuoke Ugochukwu are no longer part of the team as well.
