Chuba Akpom, the unsung hero of Dutch giants Ajax, has delivered yet another masterclass performance in their 4-1 thrashing of Volendam on Sunday.
The in-form striker put out a MOTM performance at the Kras Stadion, where he scored one and provided an assist in AFC Ajax’s big away league victory over FC Volendam, Footballrover reports.
It’s been a huge season for Nigeria, as he delivered yet another clinical finish, intelligent link-up play, and relentless work rate.
Akpom’s all-around qualities in the final third were on full display as he turned provider for Kenneth Taylor’s stunning opener before doubling the lead with a smart finish.
Kenneth Taylor later doubled his tally, with Brian Brobbey also finding the back of the net to deliver all three points for the visitors.
The 28-year-old Nigerian forward has now scored in his second consecutive game for Ajax, with his last goal coming against Excelsior in their 2-2 home draw on April 24.
His performance this season is expected to catch the attention of new Super Eagles boss Finidi George, who will be preparing for an exciting new era as the new coach of the Nigerian national male team.
The three-time African champions will have a huge attacking threat with the presence of Akpom, who has already contributed two assists and 11 goals this season.
But then, he should be well aware, though, that strong opposition from players like Terem Moffi, Victor Osimhen, and Victor Boniface awaits him in the Super Eagles camp.
