Super Falcons star Christy Ucheibe has fired a powerful warning to young footballers after reviewing a shocking contract that could destroy careers.
In her Instagram post, she revealed how greedy agents are luring unsuspecting players into exploitative agreements disguised as opportunities, Footballrover reports.
Her message is simple but urgent: protect your dreams, or risk being trapped.
Christy Ucheibe Warns Rising Footballers About Trap Contracts
The Benfica midfielder explained that the contract she came across demanded 20% of a player’s entire annual income, a clear violation of FIFA’s rules that cap agents’ fees at 5% for higher earners and up to 10% for lower earners.
The deal also included a shocking 10-year binding agreement, far longer than the standard two years, effectively handing one agent control over the most valuable years of a player’s career.
To make matters worse, the contract threatened forfeiture of all property if the player attempted to leave.
“These are not opportunities,” Ucheibe stressed. “They are traps designed to exploit your talent and future.”
Greedy Agents Exploit Young Footballers for Profit
The Super Falcons star highlighted why FIFA created strict rules against Third-Party Influence (TPI) and Third-Party Ownership (TPO).
These rules exist to prevent outsiders from controlling players’ careers for financial gain, ensuring athletes are not treated as commodities.
She urged rising footballers to always work with FIFA-registered agents and qualified sports lawyers before signing any contract.
According to her, no matter how tempting a deal looks, players must educate themselves, ask questions, and avoid signing under pressure.
