SL Benfica came from behind to snatch a thrilling 4-3 victory over Sevilla in the Algarve Women’s Football Trophy thanks to Super Falcons star Christy Ucheibe, who bagged a brace to seal the win.
The Portuguese giants were staring down the barrel of defeat before Nigerian star Christy Ucheibe, who wasn’t in the starting lineup, stepped in to deliver a dramatic late double that turned the game on its head, Footballrover reports.
Sevilla started the match like a house on fire, with Millaray Cortés opening the scoring just nine minutes into the encounter.
15 minutes later, Lúcia Moral doubled the Spanish side’s lead, leaving Benfica on their toes.
However, the Portuguese champions refused to surrender. Cristina Martin-Prieto pulled one back, but Sevilla swiftly restored their two-goal advantage through Natallia Padilla.
Just before halftime, Carole Costa’s penalty kept Benfica’s hopes alive with a 3-2 score heading into the interval.
The second half was a frantic affair, with Benfica desperately searching for an equaliser, and when it finally arrived, it came in the most dramatic fashion.
Ucheibe, a key member of Nigeria’s Olympic team, showed incredible determination to tap in a corner in the 89th minute.

Christy Ucheibe’s double delight sees Benfica set up a mouthwatering final against Sporting Women, which they subsequently won 3-1.
Portugal defender Carole Costa scored the opening goal; Nycole Raysla Silva Sobrinho doubled the advantage all within 14 minutes.
Before Marie-Yasmine Alidou d’Anjou made it 3-0 in the early moments of the second half. Maisa Correia pulled one back for Sporting Women, but her effort wasn’t enough to produce any positive result.
