Ejuke, who had an impressive pre-season, was left out of the starting eleven in Sevilla’s previous match against Las Palmas, Footballrover reports.

Iheanacho, meanwhile, was absent due to registration issues. However, both players made the squad for the clash against Villarreal, starting on the bench.

Sevilla’s night got off to a heartbreaking start when Arnaut Danjuma scored just two minutes into the game.

Juanlu Sanchez thought he had equalised in the eighth minute, but his goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR check.

Dodi Lukebakio eventually levelled the score for Sevilla in first-half stoppage time.

Villarreal had another goal disallowed in the 69th minute before Sevilla coach Pimienta brought on Ejuke to add more attacking options.

Iheanacho joined the action in the 77th minute after replacing Isaac Romero, but despite Ejuke’s six successful dribbles and Iheanacho’s efforts, neither player could make a significant impact.Chidera Ejuke and Iheanacho Endure Disappointing Debut as Sevilla Drop Points Against Villarreal

Sevilla’s hopes of a draw were dashed when Ayoze Perez scored for Villarreal in the fifth minute of stoppage time, handing Sevilla a bitter 2-1 defeat.

A match they dominated in terms of ball possession at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and also registering 15 goal attempts saw them garner just one point from two games.

Ejuke and Iheanacho will now prepare for a visit to Estadi Mallorca Son Moix, where they will be facing Mallorca in matchday three on Tuesday.

The truth is we are leaving frustrated because I think the team did things pretty well overall, but you leave with a defeat,” García Pimienta said.
