Fourteen-year-old Chibuike Obi may be young, but he’s already grabbing a lot of attention.

Despite AfroAsia Football Academy’s early exit from the Gothia Cup 2025, the Nigerian youngster left fans, scouts, and coaches talking with his impressive performances in Sweden, Footballrover reports.
Chibuike Obi Shines Bright for AfroAsia at Gothia Cup 2025
Obi stood out as a young winger full of pace, confidence, and creativity. Donning the number 7 jersey, he made defenders uncomfortable with his quick feet and smart plays down the flanks.
He was easily one of the most exciting players in the B17 category — and impressively, also one of the youngest.
Footballrover gathered that his proud father flew in all the way from Thailand to watch him live, while his Thai mother will soon cheer him on as he prepares for the Dana Cup Denmark, another elite youth football tournament.

Although AfroAsia’s tournament journey ended early, Obi made his mark.
AfroAsia Football Academy Show Fight at Gothia Cup
AfroAsia Football Academy, based in Singapore, is one of seven clubs from the country that featured in the Gothia Cup 2025.
Their campaign started strong with a 2-0 win over Prep Schools District. But they later fell 6-0 to PA Team Academy and settled for a goalless draw against Bergdalens IK.

Their final game ended in a 4-0 loss to Jockey Club de Rosario, which kicked them out of contention for the Gothia Puma trophy.
Across the group stage, the team scored two goals (by Muhammad Ashraf Danial and Nikolai Tall Heidemann) but conceded ten. Still, with a gem like Obi in their ranks, the future remains promising.
Born to a Nigerian father and Thai mother, Chibuike Obi is part of an emerging generation of multicultural football stars coming from Southeast Asia.
What’s Next for This Nigerian Youngster?
Now all eyes turn to Denmark, where Chibuike Obi is expected to feature in the upcoming Dana Cup.
As one of the breakout stars from Gothia, his story is only just beginning. Footballrover will continue to follow his progress — because this is one star on the rise.
