Enyimba International FC midfielder Chibuike Nwaiwu is set to embark on a new chapter in his career after announcing his departure to join Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC.

The 21-year-old midfielder penned an emotional farewell message to the People’s Elephant and its fans as he sets for a new life abroad, Footballrover reports.

Nwaiwu expressed his gratitude to the club and acknowledged the opportunity Enyimba provided him.

He voiced his gratitude to the amazing fans, admitting to the love and support they showed him during his playing days with the People’s Elephant.

The midfielder also declared his fulfilment during his time with the club.

Thank you all for this great opportunity to have been a part of this great club. I feel fulfilled,” he wrote.

The defensive midfielder’s contract with Enyimba has expired, paving the way for his move to Austria.

Chibuike Nwaiwu enjoyed a breakout season with the Aba giants, and with his impressive performances last season, he was able to catch the attention of clubs in Europe, with Wolfsberger AC finally able to secure his signature.

Nwaiwu began his NPFL journey with FC Heartland in 2021 before joining Enyimba in 2022.

He was among six players, including Murphy Ndukwu, Nonso Nzediegwu, Chijioke Mbaoma, James Oronsaye, and another James Oronsaye, unveiled by the Aba outfit in September 2022.

As Nwaiwu prepares for his Austrian adventure, Enyimba will now look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the upcoming season.
