Chelsea kicked off their new campaign on a strong noted with a 1-0 victory over Everton on the league’s first day at Goodison Park and managed to set a new landmark.
After a difficult contest between both teams, Chelsea led Frank Lampard’s Everton 1-0 at the end of the first half.
Doucoure, however, lost focus during a vital stretch of stoppage time and brought down Chilwell in the box.
After Ben Chilwell was fouled in the box in the last seconds of the first half, Jorginho converted the ensuing penalty kick to score the game’s only goal.
The home team had a monumental challenge before them to get back into the game in the second half after Jorginho successfully converted the penalty kick.

Despite losing Ben Godfrey to a nasty ankle injury, the Toffees battled effectively like a wounded lion for the rest of the contest.
Even though there weren’t many opportunities, the visitors had the fortitude to hold out Everton’s few chances to strike an equalizer and secure the three points.

- Jorginho’s goal against Everton also was his 20th in the Premier League, and 18 of those 20 of his goals have come from penalties, which is the highest percentage of any player with at least 10 goals in the league.
- Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Γdouard Mendy (31/66), has managed to maintained a clean sheet in 47 percent of his Premier League starts, only Ederson (50%) has more clean sheet ratio among goalkeepers with at least 50 starts.
Everton will travel to Aston Villa to play the next weekend in the Premier League. The following Sunday will be Chelsea’s first home game of the season against Tottenham.
