Roman Abramovich might likely not be the only high-ranking Chelsea executive to resign in the near future, one of the club’s long-serving director – Marina Granovskaia is also expected to leave the Premier League side once new ownership takes control.
On Wednesday evening, the Russian billionaire disclosed that he is aiming at selling the Premier League team, which he has owned since 2003, and that he’s willing to set aside the £1.5 billion he lent to the club.
Hansjorg Wyss, a Swiss billionaire, said earlier this week that he had been contacted by Abramovich to acquire the club, and that he had joined US businessman Todd Boehly in a group preparing a big offer.
There’ll no doubt be Twitter-wide celebrations about Marina Granovskaia’s impending departure.
I can tell you for absolute certain that everyone at the club will be devastated.

When Abramovich sells Chelsea, club director Marina Granovskaia, who has been crucial to the team’s success, might go as well, perhaps having a greater effect than the owner’s exit.
For the previous two decades, Granovskaia has served as Abramovich’s de facto “chief of staff” across several of his business ventures, and she assumed a more significant role at Chelsea when she took the helm in 2013.
Marina Granovskaia will be a massive loss to Chelsea.
All those who were blaming her for everything will probably find a new scapegoat.
Marina was fantastic for Chelsea.
Thank you Marina, and good luck in the future. pic.twitter.com/XGa1Ny2MxI

However, Marina Granovskaia might likely follow the path of his boss to step down as director of Chelsea as soon as the club is sold.
Chelsea look set to be losing several key assets to their highly successful set-up very soon. Roman Abramovich and his Chelsea board including Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech all look set to be leaving, as does club captain César Azpilicueta. These are HUGE departures. pic.twitter.com/n5P40npv8f

Marina is a Russian-Canadian businesswoman who is presently the director of Chelsea Football Club. She has also worked as Roman Abramovich’s chief assistant for over ten years.
