First half goals from Kazie Enyinnaya, Paul Acquah, a brace from Ebube Duru and stunning strike from Malachi Ohawume was all the Nigeria Professional Football League champions needed to see off their visitors at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

RiversΒ United got things going immediately and were promptly given a penalty, just eleven minutes into the game.

Al Nasr’s goalkeeper fouled Paul Acquah in the box, earning him a booking for the foul, before Ebube Duru stepped up and smoothly converted the resulting penalty kick to put the home team ahead.

Two minutes later, Kazie Enyinnaya quickly increased the scoreline, giving the Port Harcourt Boys a 2-0 advantage.

Prior to Chibuzor Ohawume’s long-range attempt, which narrowly missed the target, Nyima Nwagua also had a chance to make it three 20 minutes into the game but flicked his shot just over the goal.

After 14 minutes, the Stanley Eguma team appeared to have scored a third goal, but Joseph Onoja’s attempt from inside the penalty area missed by a whisker.

The Port Harcourt team made a full effort to score more goals, and they did just that four minutes before halftime as Paul Acquah increased the lead to 3-0.

The first half ended with the Pride of Rivers in full control of the game and they continued from where they left in the second half. Just three minutes in, Nyima Nwagua pulls a diving header on Ebube Duru’s cross, only to see his effort bounce against the woodwork.

After 63 minutes of play, Rivers United were handed another penalty, which Ebube Duru again converted to double his tally of game, making it a 4-0 score for the hosts.

Malachi Ohawume then completed the rout with a rocket shot into the Al Nasr goal nine minutes later, making it 5-0 for Rivers United.CAFCC: Five-star Rivers United cruise to victory over Al Nasr in Port Harcourt
