Werder Bremen sporting director Clemens Fritz has delivered a clear message to Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface, urging him to recognise that his spell at the Bundesliga club is a major chance to prove himself.

The comment came after Werder Bremen’s 1-0 home win over FC St. Pauli, where Boniface entered as an 80th-minute substitute but missed a stoppage-time chance to secure the result, Footballrover reports.

The sporting director stressed the club’s commitment to helping the 23-year-old Nigerian regain his best form following fitness issues that have limited his impact this season.

“It is our goal to get him into the best possible shape – because then he will be incredibly valuable to us,” Fritz added.

“I’d say we’ve all stood in front of abstract art in a gallery and wondered what the artist was trying to tell us. We at Werder ask ourselves the same thing about him,” Fritz said.
