Yusuf Otubanjo and Sani Buhari showed off their brilliance in front of goal as Pyunik FC cruised to a 3-0 victory over Ararat Yerevan in the Armenian Premier League.
Buhari opened the scoring early in the match, while Otubanjo sealed the win with a clinical finish in the second half, securing a crucial three points for Pyunik in their quest to climb the league table, Footballrover reports.
Buhari’s first goal lifts Pyunik’s spirits
Pyunik entered the game determined to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Noah in their previous match.
Sani Buhari, still searching for his first league goal of the season, delivered when it mattered most.
After being set up by Brazilian defender Alemao, Buhari coolly slotted home to put Pyunik ahead in the first half.
This breakthrough not only lifted the team’s spirits but also set the tone for more goals to come.
Ivorian forward Serges Deble then doubled Pyunik’s lead just before halftime, further demoralising Ararat Yerevan and giving Pyunik complete control heading into the break.
Otubanjo’s impact off the bench seals the win
Coming off the bench after the restart, Yusuf Otubanjo wasted no time in leaving his mark on the match.
Replacing Serges Deble, the Nigerian forward displayed great composure inside the box to deliver a well-executed goal in the 71st minute, putting the game beyond Ararat’s reach.

Otubanjo’s clinical finish came after just 26 minutes on the field, proving his importance to the team and securing his fourth goal of the season.
Buhari, meanwhile, was substituted in the second half, but his early impact had already set Pyunik on the path to victory.
With this win, Pyunik now sits third on the table with 13 points from seven matches, only four points behind league leaders Van.
Their next challenge will be a trip to face Ararat-Armenia in what promises to be another thrilling encounter.
