Sporting her new jersey number 18, she shared her excitement in an exclusive interview with Footballrover:

“I feel better leaving the Nigerian league. It’s good playing over here, and I will learn more from my new team.”

Before her departure, Blessing Okpe was a crucial member of the Rivers Angels squad, helping them secure a second-place finish in the NWFL last season.

She also played key role in leading the Garden City team to victory in the FA Cup, with her standout moment coming in the semi-finals, where she netted a hat-trick.

Okpe joined Rivers Angels in 2020, spending four successful seasons with the Port Harcourt-based team.

While reflecting on her time there, she told Footballrover,

“I spent four years with my favourite team, Rivers Angels. Leaving isn’t easy because I love my team so much, but I need to move on to start a new chapter. It’s not easy leaving the country, but we must move forward in our careers.”

In a heartfelt farewell message, she expressed her gratitude:

“To the entire Rivers State, I love you all. Thank you for giving me the platform to grow in my football career. I truly appreciate my supporters, teammates, general manager, honourable commissioner for sports, and the governor of the state. I pray the good Lord blesses you all.”

Blessing Okpe has also played on the international stage, where she represented Nigeria’s U-20 side in the 2022 World Cup.

Her new club, Amed SK Women, finished their last campaign in 10th place with 35 points, and they will be looking to improve their performance in the upcoming 2024/25 season.

With Okpe now on board, the team is hopeful for a stronger campaign this time around.
