Bernard Ovoke has made a shocking exit from Enyimba FC, terminating his contract by mutual consent.
The abrupt nature of his departure has left fans puzzled, as no official reason has been provided. His time at the Elephant Park has now come to an unexpected end, footballrover reports.
Bernard Ovoke’s brief stint at Enyimba ends suddenly
The 27-year-old winger joined Enyimba on February 15, 2024, but his stay was short-lived, ending after 377 days at the club.
His decision to leave the Aba-based team so soon has raised questions, but Ovoke remains appreciative of his time with the People’s Elephant.
“Grateful for the opportunity to have played for Enyimba FC. It was a season well spent, and I’m honoured to have been part of the People’s Elephant. A big thank you to the management and my teammates for the journey,” he shared on his social media platform.
Ovoke’s career journey before Enyimba’s departure
Ovoke began his professional career at Bayelsa United before moving to Rivers United in 2016. In January 2019, he signed with Plateau United and later ventured abroad to FC Sevan in Armenia in mid-2021.
Following a brief period as a free agent in early 2022, he returned to Rivers United in March.
He went on to play for Lobi Stars in September 2022 and later joined Kwara United in July 2023.
His move to Enyimba last February was expected to be a fresh chapter, but it has now ended unexpectedly under the leadership of former Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma.
With his Enyimba departure finalised, Ovoke is once again a free agent and will soon decide on his next move.
