The match not only provided an opportunity for Antwi Samuel Adom and Abba Suleiman to showcase their skills but also witnessed the impressive debut of Bernard Yao Kouassi, Deputy Echeta, Shedrack Asiegbu, and other new acquisitions.

The technical manager, Stanley Eguma, fielded a solid starting XI in their build up to 2023/24 NPFL campaign.

The First Half: A Battle for Dominance

The first half saw Paul Odey and Kazie Enyinnaya put in brilliant performances for Rivers United from both wings.

The duo linked up well, creating several scoring opportunities. Despite the pressure, Beyond Limits FA’s goalkeeper, was equal to the task, making two spectacular saves to deny Rivers United the lead.

Both teams struggled to break through the opposition’s defense, resulting in a goalless first 45 minutes.

Second Half: A Dynamic Trio Takes the Stage

Stanley Eguma made crucial changes during the break, introducing Bernard Yao, Deputy Echeta, and Shedrack Asiegbu into the game.

The trio immediately made an impact, pushing Rivers United forward with determination. Augustine Okejepha took charge in the midfield, while Agu Precious posed a constant threat upfront.

However, it was Remo Stars Academy who intensified their attacks midway through the second half, placing considerable pressure on Rivers United’s defense.

Nonetheless, the defensive quartet of Kazie Enyinnaya, Temple Emekayi, Endurance Ebedebiri, and Paul Odeh remained resilient, ensuring the game remained balanced.

Asiegbu’s Late Heroics Denied

In the closing moments of the game, a decent link-up play between Shedrack Asiegbu and Kazie Enyinnaya nearly tipped the scales in Rivers United’s favor.

Asiegbu’s well-placed shot seemed destined for the net, but Beyond Limits FA’s goalkeeper, Daniel Aiyenugba, showed his brilliance by making a breathtaking save, earning him the Man of the Match title and securing a goalless draw.

Standings and Upcoming Clash: Rivers United Fights On

The draw places Rivers United in the third spot on the log with one point from their opening fixture.

They trail Shooting Stars, who lead the table with four points from two games, and Beyond Limits FA with two points from two games.

On the other hand, Abia Warriors languish at the bottom with no points from one game.

Rivers United will return to action on Sunday, August 6, in a crucial showdown against Shooting Stars of Ibadan.

The team aims to continue their quest for preseason glory, relying on the newly-acquired talents of Bernard Yao Kouassi, Deputy Echeta, and Shedrack Asiegbu to make a significant impact.
