After a 1-3 quarter-final victory over Benfica at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, Liverpool already have one foot in the Champions League final four.
The visitors now have a deserved edge heading back to Anfield, thanks to goals from Ibrahima Konate, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz.
Benfica had their chances on the break, but Jurgen Klopp’s team produced some spectacular football to secure the win on Tuesday night.
Liverpool were in complete control at halftime, having piled up 11 shots to the hosts’ four.
Diaz and Mane, who skillfully linked up for the visitors’ second goal, as well as Konate, who put in a perfect defensive performance after opening the score, have all caused Benfica issues.

However, the home side got a lifeline four minutes into the second half. Konate, who had been outstanding throughout the game, was suddenly at fault as the Eagles clawed back a goal.
Darwin Nunez was on hand to score nicely past Allison after the Liverpool defender totally missed Silva’s low cross.
Striker – Nunez has hit five Champions League goals this season, as well as scoring 21 times in the Portuguese top fight this term.
Liverpool didn’t have it easy in the second half, but Luis Diaz produced a late goal to put Klopp’s side in full command, and they will be widely favored to complete the job at Anfield next week.
