After their third consecutive draw following Saturday’s NPFL game, Bendel Insurance players received a light hairdryer treatment from their head coach, Monday Odigie.
Despite his disappointment with the 2-2 draw with Kwara United, Odigie dished out constructive feedback to his players, emphasising the importance of understanding the club’s values, Footballrover reports
The game unfolded with Kwara United initially taking the lead with an impressive goal from Sodiq Yusuf at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
However, Bendel Insurance rallied, equalising with a remarkable strike from Stephen Sodje, and just before halftime, Kwara United secured a 2-1 lead through Godwin Oshagbemi’s goal.
In a thrilling turn, Ismael Sarki’s dramatic late goal in extra time levelled the score, resulting in a 2-2 draw, showcasing Bendel Insurance’s resilience at home.
Coach Monday Odigie, who acknowledged the diverse backgrounds of his players, emphasised the importance of embracing the club’s heritage.
“Most of these players are coming from different clubs, and attitude-wise, they need to understand what Bendel Insurance was made of. It didn’t just happen over night, no matter where you were coming from.”
Expressing determination, Odigie highlighted the team’s focus on their goals despite the long season ahead.
“It’s a long league; we are mindful of the task, and we’ll keep trying to work towards our objectives.”
It’s three draws in a row now for the Vibers, and they will be hoping to turn their fortunes around when they get to face the reigning champions, Emyimba, on Wednesday.
