Bayelsa United’s forward, Robert Mizo, has expressed disappointment following their recent match against Heartland of Owerri, despite securing a hard-earned 2-2 draw during their NPFL game.

Mizo emphasized that celebrating the draw wouldn’t be appropriate, despite his team’s commendable effort in netting two late goals, including his crucial strike in the closing moments of the game.

Heartland FC’s struggle in the Nigeria Premier League persisted as they were unable to clinch a win, settling for a draw against Bayelsa United, with Promise Anyanwu securing an early lead for the hosts in the 11th minute.

Coach Deprieye Tebowei’s side persistently pushed for an equalizer but faced an uphill battle after Ike Chinedu added to Heartland’s lead in the 75th minute.

However, Bayelsa United showcased their determination, staging a remarkable comeback with Nneoyi Ofem and Robert Mirzo scoring quick goals in the 83rd and 84th minute, respectively, securing a vital away point.

Heartland FC continues to be the sole team in the league yet to secure a win this season.

Despite acknowledging the team’s spirited performance, Robert Mizo highlighted that while it marked their first away point of the season, it shouldn’t warrant celebration.

The NPFL joint top scorer expressed delight in contributing his seventh goal of the campaign but stressed the importance of striving for better results.

Great performance from the team for fighting back to get a draw. We shouldn’t be celebrating this, but it’s our first away point of the season, and I was on the score sheet for my 7th goal of the season,” he said.
