Bayelsa United Coach Ladan Bosso has expressed concerns over his squad’s ongoing struggles, despite their recent victory.
After narrowly defeating Heartland 1-0 in an NPFL matchday-8 clash at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Bosso didn’t hold back his assessment, shedding light on a deeper issue plaguing the team, Footballrover reports.
The match may have ended in Bayelsa United’s favor, but Bosso pointed out a recurring problem—his players’ inability to convert the numerous opportunities they create during games.

According to the coach, this weakness is becoming a major obstacle to the team’s progress.
“The spirit we used to play this match (against Heartland) is the same spirit we used against Plateau United in Nasarawa,” the Bayelsa United Coach said.
However, that spirit, while commendable, wasn’t enough to erase the frustrations of missed chances.

Although Bosso remains confident in his squad’s overall capability, he emphasised the importance of addressing their inconsistency.
The Coach Ladan noted that while the team can put on impressive performances, they struggle to maintain that level of play from match to match.
Compounding the problem is the fact that Bayelsa United is restricted to their current roster until the mid-season transfer window.
With no option to bring in new talent for now, Bosso stressed the need for players to step up and take responsibility within the squad.
Adding to the challenge, coach Bosso acknowledged that high expectations from fans have placed additional pressure on his players.

The coach believes that mindset issues are contributing to their fluctuating performances.
“Today we play well, and tomorrow we play poorly. These are the things we need to fix. It’s all about the mindset of the players. They play under pressure because they know that everyone, especially the fans, expects victory,” he said.
The narrow victory against Heartland marked only Bayelsa United’s second win of the season, with the team managing just three draws and three losses in their first eight games.
