Whyte Ogbonda was officially unveiled as the team’s new head coach on Tuesday at Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa and wasted no time in outlining his lofty goals for the club, Footballrover reports.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who represented Governor Douye Diri.

Ewhrudjakpo emphasised the state’s commitment to football excellence at all levels, highlighting Ogbonda’s appointment as a strategic move to propel the Bayelsa Queens to even greater heights.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo acknowledged the contributions of the previous coach but emphasised that the team aspired to move higher.

This desire for improvement motivated the decision to bring in a highly experienced coach with a proven track record, he concluded.

Coach Whyte Ogbonda, who was in charge of Rivers Angels last season, stated that he is delighted to join the Prosperity Girls because it is every coach’s dream to work with the Bayelsa Ladies.

He went on to express confidence in his team, stating that they will fight for the title in the 2024–25 NWFL Premiership season and other competitions.

I promise, as we are resuming on July 20, 2024, we will do everything to pick a continental ticket, as that is my target.” Whyte added.

Meanwhile, Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala, the club’s chairman, added that there will be changes to the team.
