Three (3) goals scored in the 8th (Juliet Sunday), 49th and 54th minute (Mercy Itimi) against their Egyptian opponent, Wadi Degla FC, was all the team needed to cruise into the Semi-final of the tournament for the first time with a total of 6 (six) points.

Bayelsa Queens FC had earlier defeated TP Mazembe FC, Congo DR, 2-0 after losing the first match 1-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns FC of South Africa.

Following the convincing 3-0 win over Wadi Degla in their final match of the group stage in the competition, the Nigerian champions achieved history by becoming the first Nigerian team to advance to the knockout stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

During the first half, Juliet Sunday gave the Nigerian team the lead before Mercy Itimi increased the advantage just three minutes into the second half.

Five minutes later, Mercy Itimi doubled her tally of the game to extend Queens’ lead to three goals.

The three goals were sufficient to advance Bayelsa Queens—who placed second in their group behind Mamelodi Sundowns—to the next stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Bayelsa Queens will be looking to face ASFAR Club of Morocco in the semifinal scheduled for Wednesday, 9th of November 2022 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium by 9pm.
