Bayelsa Queens Coach Domo Okara has expressed disappointment following their opening game of the season against Sunshine Queens, claiming they were frustrated.

The Bayelsa Queens’ coach expressed initial intentions to secure maximum points in Akure but faced a resilient Sunshine Queens, acknowledging their frustration against the Akure Landladies’ strategic delay tactics that disrupted their game plan.
The match kicked off with Suliat Ajibade of Sunshine Queens converting a penalty in the 18th minute after Bayelsa Queens’ captain, Angela Michael, brought down an opponent in the penalty area.
The first half ended with the hosts leading 1-0.
The second half saw Sunshine Queens seeking to extend their lead, but it was the determined Bayelsa Queens who levelled the scoreline in the 62nd minute through Itimi Mercy’s strike, ending the thrilling clash at 1-1.
Coach Okara emphasised their commitment to addressing the shortcomings observed in the game, aiming to emerge stronger in their upcoming matches.
“Our initial plan was to get all maximum points in Akure, but met a different Sunshine Queens. We were frustrated by the pattern of the Akure Landladies as they used delay tactics to disrupt our game plan,” Bayelsa Queens coach Domo Okara said.
Looking ahead, Bayelsa Queens will host debutants Ekiti Queens at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, for an anticipated Matchday 2 fixture in the NWFL Premiership.
