Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal has become the youngest player to assist a goal in the European Championship, breaking multiple records at just 16 years and 338 days old.
The Spain youngster achieved this feat in the Euro 2024 opener against Croatia, as he continues to seal off his position as one of the most promising young players in the world, Footballrover reports.
Yamal’s remarkable achievement has also made him the youngest player to start in European Championship history, surpassing Poland’s Kacper Kozlowski’s record set in Euro 2020.

During the match, the Barcelona starlet’s sublime delivery led to Dani Carvajal’s goal, securing Spain’s 3-0 win over Croatia.
The game started slow, but Spain quickly gained momentum with two goals in three minutes from Alvaro Morata and Fabian Ruiz, putting them 2-0 up by the 32nd minute.
Yamal’s brilliant delivery just before half-time allowed Dani Carvajal to score, leaving Croatia reeling.
Despite Croatia’s efforts to mount a comeback in the second half, including a controversial disallowed goal from Bruno Petkovic, Spain maintained their dominance and secured a 3-0 victory.

Yamal also holds records for being the youngest scorer in La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
With two goals and four assists for Spain since his debut in September 2023, Yamal is now aiming to become the youngest goalscorer in European Championship history, a record currently held by England’s Jude Bellingham.
