Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea star defender, appears to be on his way to Barcelona this summer on a free transfer.

Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in 2012, the 32-year-old has proven himself as a regular first-team player for the Blues.

However, he is at conflict with the club over whether or not to renew his contract, offering Barca the possibility to sign him.

Barcelona has made Azpilicueta a major target for the summer transfer window, as they look to improve their defensive line with quality and experienced player.

Head coach of team, Xavi is working hard to finalise the deal, which would take effect when his current contract expires in June.

The Thomas Tuchel side are hoping to retain his services of the Spain defender in 2022-23, and negotiations about a possible extension have taken place.

But for the time being, the two parties have been unable to reach an agreement, with no further conversations taking place between the player and the club since January.
