Vojvodina forward Bamidele Yusuf has made a strong statement about his ambition to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles following an outstanding run in the 2024/25 Serbian SuperLiga recently.

With 17 appearances under his belt, the 23-year-old has scored eight goals and provided two assists, leading to fast dreams about his potential call-up to the national team, footballrover reports.

After a remarkable four-goal performance in a Serbian league match, Yusuf strongly believes his dream of representing the Super Eagles could soon become a reality.

Bamidele Yusuf’s stellar form in Serbian SuperLiga

Yusuf’s rise to prominence in the Serbian SuperLiga has been nothing short of spectacular.

After a brief period of adjustment, where it took him four matches to settle in, the Vojvodina forward has become an impact player this season.

His scoring spree began with a brace against Radnički in August and continued with an unforgettable performance in November, where he netted all four goals in a 4-0 victory over Novi Pazar.

This achievement made him only the second Nigerian after Vincent Eze to score four goals in an away match for the SuperLiga side.

The Nigerian forward’s form has not gone unnoticed, as he currently sits joint-third in the league’s top scorer chart with eight goals.

His clinical performance has been vital for Vojvodina, as the club aims to secure a European competition spot for the next season.

Despite Vojvodina’s current seventh-place standing in the league, Yusuf remains optimistic about their progress, both in the Serbian SuperLiga and the Serbian Cup, where he also played a crucial role in their advancement to the quarter-finals after scoring a brace in a 3-1 win over Grafičar.

A future with the Super Eagles?

Yusuf, who joined Vojvodina before the start of the season from Radnički Niš, has previously played for Estoril in Portugal and Spartak Trnava in Slovakia.

His impressive return of six goals and five assists in 16 matches with Radnički further highlights what he’s capable of.

Now, with his performances in the Serbian SuperLiga, a Super Eagles call-up seems increasingly likely, as he hopes for.

The Nigerian forward’s commitment to helping the Super Eagles succeed is clear, as he expresses his desire to add his qualities to the team and contribute to their goalscoring efforts.

“Of course it’s the dream of every footballer to represent their country,” Yusuf said. “If I get a call-up, I want to add my qualities to the team and help them score more goals,” he said as quoted by CompleteSports.

With Nigeria’s next World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in March 2025 on the horizon, Yusuf’s form could be the deciding factor in securing a national team debut.

If he continues his exceptional form in the Serbian SuperLiga, it might only be a matter of time before Bamidele Yusuf receives a much-anticipated call-up to the Super Eagles, a dream he is eager to fulfil.
