Valencia, however had two goals ruled out in the first half, one for offside and the other for the ball straying out in the build-up.

With a diving header, Soler drew one back, but Pedri’s stunning curving strike put the game out of reach for the visitors.

With the win, Barcelona has regained the lead over Atletico Madrid and are now in fourth place in LaLiga.

They’ve now gone five games without a loss heading into Thursday’s second-leg Europa League encounter against Napoli.

Valencia’s quest for a league win in 2022 continues. They remain in 12th place and will face Real Mallorca in their next match.
