Asisat Oshoala has continued to prove why she’s one of the most valuable players in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), as she netted her second consecutive goal to help Bay FC salvage a crucial 1-1 draw against North Carolina Courage at WakeMed Soccer Park.
The Nigerian superstar’s early strike displayed her clinical finishing, but it was a hard-fought battle that left Bay FC with mixed emotions as they edged closer to the playoffs, Footballrover reports.
The visitors struck early in the ninth minute when Oshoala capitalised on a perfectly weighted pass from Tess Boade.
With her instinctive movement and poise under pressure, she slotted the ball past Courage’s goalkeeper to give Bay FC a deserved lead.
It was yet another moment of brilliance from Oshoala, who now has five goals this season, proving she can be counted on when the stakes are high.
However, the joy was short-lived as North Carolina Courage responded in the 28th minute through Ashley Sanchez.
Receiving a pinpoint assist from Denise O’Sullivan, Sanchez fired in the equaliser, leaving the match finely poised.
From that point, both teams fought tooth and nail, but neither could break the deadlock as the game ended 1-1.

While the result extended the Courage’s impressive 19-game home unbeaten run, Bay FC had plenty to be optimistic about.
The draw kept them unbeaten in their last three games and firmly in the playoff race.
Currently sitting seventh on the table with 25 points, Bay FC remains within striking distance of securing a spot in the NWSL championship playoffs, with six regular-season games left.
