After a convincing 4-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in the Round 18 match played at American Express Community’s Stadium, Arsenal made a huge step toward winning the 2022/2023 English Premier League.
With the victory, Mikel Arteta’s team moved seven points ahead of Manchester City, their nearest opponent.

A strong Martin Odegaard run towards the final third of the field of play before he was stopped led to the goal.
Gabrielle Martinelli attempted to bend the ball into the top corner of the net after Tariq Lamptey passed it to him, but Saka intercepted it and curved it past Brighton goalie Robert Sanchez.
In the 39th minute of the first half of the game, Odegaard made it two for Arsenal after he pounced onto a stray ball cleared by Brighton and Hove Albion’s defense off an Arsenal corner kick to bounce over everyone on the goal line into the corner of their net.
Within the first minute of the second half, Eddie Nketiah made it 3-0 for Arsenal. Robert Sanchez parried a shot from Gabrielle Martinelli that was intended for Brighton’s goal, and Eddie Nketiah quickly scored from close range.
Brighton and Hove Albion rallied to cut the deficit to 1-3 in the 65th minute thanks to Kaoru Mitoma and an assist from Pascal GroB.
In the 70th minute of the second half, an excellent ball from Martin Odegaard found an unmarked Gabrielle Martinelli who scored the fourth goal, bringing the score to 4-1 for Arsenal.

Seven minutes later, in the 77th minute, Evan Ferguson, scored the second goal for Brighton and Hove Albion.
The game ended 2-4 in favour of Arsenal, who have accrued 43 points after 16 League games, leaving Brighton and Hove Albion with 24 points through 16 games.
