The intense showdown began with Rivers United in the lead. Andy Okpe, in pursuit of a loose ball, collided with a Remo Stars player who denied him the opportunity, nearly causing injury. 
Unfortunately, the tackle lacked sportsmanship. Coach Daniel Ogunmodede couldn’t conceal his frustration and immediately confronted Andy Okpe.
Andy, who already had a strained relationship with the coach since his time at Remo Stars, didn’t back down.
He responded promptly, leading to an exchange of harsh words. This heated exchange resulted in both of them receiving yellow cards, marking the first bookings of the game.
The drama didn’t end there. The game intensified during the second half, with Rivers United pushing for a second goal and Remo Stars seeking an equalizer.

In a magical moment of brilliance, the 22-year-old forward, who had been a central figure throughout the game, unleashed a thunderous strike, sealing the win for Rivers United.
To add to the drama, he celebrated provocatively, targeting his former boss as Rivers United ultimately triumphed 2-0 after the final whistle.
The Aftermath:
After the game, Coach Ogunmodede couldn’t wait for the final whistle to vent his frustrations. He confronted Andy Okpe, resulting in further confrontation before being separated by coaching staff and fans.
Footballrover managed to speak exclusively with Andy Okpe after the game, but he chose not to comment, simply smiling.
“I’ll rather not talk about it,” Andy said while smiling off.
Rivers United’s coach, Stanley Eguma, revealed that he strategically introduced Andy into the game to counter Remo Stars’ tactics. He noted that the plan worked, leading to victory.
Efforts to obtain Coach Ogunmodede’s perspective were unsuccessful, as he declined to comment.
Meanwhile, an insider from Remo Stars, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that Andy Okpe had previously played for their team but struggled to score goals, leading to a falling out with the coach over his playing style and performance.
As a result, he was benched and subsequently transferred to Rivers United.
Evidently, Andy Okpe was determined to prove a point to his former boss and demonstrate that his departure from the team was a mistake.
Unfortunately, his former coach was not open to making amends.
