Anayo Iwuala is on fire right now, and for the third consecutive game, he has found the back of the net, propelling Al Arabi to a thrilling 2-1 home victory over Al Qadsia in the Kuwaiti Premier League on Wednesday.
Iwuala got the party started by opening the scoring, giving Al Arabi a 1-0 lead and securing their third straight win in as many games this season, Footballrover reports.
Before this latest strike, the 25-year-old forward had already made his mark by netting the decisive goal in their first league match, a 2-0 win over Kazma SC.
He kept the momentum going in the second game, scoring again to help his team clinch a nail-biting 3-2 victory over Al Tadamon.
With his goal against Al Qadsia, Iwuala made it three goals in three games, continuing his streak as Al Arabi maintain their flawless start to the new campaign.
The former Esperance Tunis player opened the scoring before Majed Al Shammari wrapped up the 2-1 win.
After a tense first half, it took the ex-Enyimba star just 21 minutes into the second half to ignite the home crowd with his strike, giving the fans something to cheer for.
But just when it looked like Iwuala’s goal might be the match-winner, Ismail Khafi broke the hearts of the home supporters by scoring an equaliser three minutes into added time.
However, Al Arabi wasn’t done yet. With everything on the line, they fought back fiercely, and just four minutes later, Al Shammari delivered the knockout blow, securing all three points with a dramatic late goal.
With this victory, Al Arabi remains at the top of the standings with a perfect nine points, three points clear of second-placed Kuwait SC.
Meanwhile, their defeated visitors slip down to 7th place with just three points.
