Super Eagles sensation Anayo Iwuala is making waves in Kuwait and has continued his impressive form, netting a crucial goal against Al Jahra to propel his team, Al-Arabi, to a convincing victory in their Emir Cup quarterfinals clash on Monday evening.
Anayo Iwuala’s goal against Al Jahra: The spark Al-Arabi needed
The 26-year-old proved to be the catalyst for Al-Arabi’s success, delivering the opening goal against Al Jahra at the Sabah Al Salem Stadium, Footballrover reports.
This strike set the tone for Al-Arabi Kuwait’s dominant 2-0 triumph over their opponents and his latest goal brings Iwuala’s season tally to an impressive nine goals.
Anayo Iwuala put his team in the lead just 34 minutes into the match, handing Al-Arabi a slender advantage as they headed into halftime.
Shortly after the break, seven minutes into the second half, Komail Al Aswad doubled Al-Arabi’s lead, making it 2-0.
More than just a goal: Iwuala’s impact
However, Al Jahra managed to pull one back nine minutes later through Abdulaziz Ali Merwi, injecting some tension into the final stages of the game.
Despite this response, Al-Arabi held firm to secure the 2-1 victory, largely thanks to the early brilliance of Iwuala and his crucial strike against Al Jahra.
Looking ahead, Iwuala and his Al-Arabi teammates will now focus on their upcoming semi-final clash against Al Salmiya, who overcame 10-man Al Naser with a 3-1 victory.
