Alhassan Yusuf continues to impress in Major League Soccer, grabbing his first MLS goal and leading New England Revolution to a dramatic 3-3 draw against Orlando City SC.
The 24-year-old Super Eagles star has now contributed both a goal and an assist in his 11 appearances for the Revolution, as he continues to find his footing in the team starting lineup, Footballrover reports.
Yusuf’s first MLS goal sparks New England’s fightback
The match at the Inter & Co Stadium seemed to slip away from New England as they trailed 2-0 at halftime.
Orlando’s Martin Ojeda had a brace, scoring in the 24th and 33rd minutes, ending the Revolution’s 409-minute defensive streak.
But just before the break, Alhassan Yusuf halved the deficit, scoring his first goal ever in MLS in the 38th minute.
A well-timed pass from Ilay Feingold set up Yusuf’s easy finish, bringing the score to 2-1.
A thrilling conclusion: Yusuf’s impact and the draw
New England wasn’t done yet. Just before halftime, Matt Polster levelled the score at 2-2 with a flick header from a Carles Gil assist.
The Revolution came out strong in the second half, and after a penalty gave Orlando City their third goal, they battled back once again.
A tactical shift saw the Revolution push forward, and in the 82nd minute, Carles Gil converted a penalty to equalise at 3-3.
Despite a late push from Orlando, New England held on to maintain their unbeaten streak—five wins and a draw in their last six matches.
Next, New England faces a crucial home clash against San Jose Earthquakes as they look to extend their unbeaten run.
