The Red Devils book their place in the next round with a flattering 3-1 victory at the expense of the Nigerian International, who twisted his ankle after Manchester United Tyrrell Malacia’s sliding challenge in 50th minute of the game.

Manchester United right winger – Anthony, scrambled home the first goal for his team in 4th minute of the first half.

Marcus Rashford’s right wing cross eluded three Everton defenders before Anthony rushed to slide in the opening goal.

Anthony Martial almost doubled Manchester United’s lead three minutes later in 7th minutes when he forced a stretch off Everton goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford.

Demarai Gray, forced an incredible save from Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea in 12th minutes with a venomous shot from outside the eighteen yard box of Manchester United.

Everton later made it 1-1 a minute later in 14th minutes from the resulting corner kick through Conor Cody, who exploited a miserable goalkeeping error from Manchester United goalkeeper, and the defenders who failed to properly clear the ball from dangerous area to score the crucial equaliser.

Despite the equaliser, the reds continued to pile pressure on a seemingly miserable Everton defence with Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial keeping them on their toes upto the end of first half of the match.

Manchester United started the second half with brisk interchanging of passes within the midfield.

Everton’s Conor Coady turned from hero to villain in the 52nd of the second half when he caved in from a sustained Manchester United pressure to make it 2-1 for the Reds through an own-goal.

Marcus Rashford took the match beyond the Toffes when he scored the third goal for Manchester United in the 7th minutes of second half extra time.

The Toffees may be grateful that they can now fully concentrate on their struggle to survive Premier League relegation, but it’s another loss for a team that are yet to secure a win since the World Cup.

At the other end, the Red Devils will progress as they maintain their impressive post-World Cup form, and Ten Hag will obviously be convinced that his team can win a trophy in his first season in charge.
