Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi displayed his outstanding form, spearheading Fulham’s commanding 5-0 triumph over Nottingham Forest with a brace in their Premier League fixture at Craven Cottage.
During the game, the 27-year-old Nigerian international struck twice, opening the scoring for Fulham and subsequently doubling his tally,Ā Footballrover reports
The first half ended with Fulham ahead 2-0, courtesy of goals from Iwobi and Jimenez, leaving Forest struggling to generate opportunities, with Origi’s attempt being their closest call.
Fulham’s dominance persisted throughout the match. Iwobi’s breakthrough goal stemmed from an impressive counterattack.
Cairney’s delivery found Willian, who set up Iwobi for a straightforward finish.
Barely four minutes later, Pereira fed Jimenez, whose powerful strike found the top corner, extending Fulham’s lead.
Despite Iwobi narrowly missing a chance for a third goal from outside the box, Jimenez secured his brace in the second half with brilliant footwork to elude defenders before slotting a backheeled shot into an open net.
Shortly after, Iwobi capitalised on a Wilson assist, effortlessly securing his second goal from close range.
Fulham’s captain, Cairney, then sealed the victory with a goal, capitalising on a defensive error from Forest, to hand his side the 5-0 win.
Despite his impressive performance, Iwobi was substituted after scoring his second goal, missing out on a potential hat-trick opportunity.
Looking forward, Iwobi and Fulham will gather momentum ahead of their next fixture as they look to face West Ham, while Forest will be visiting Wolves in their upcoming fixtures.
