Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has once again carved his name alongside Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu by equaling his record of most assists in the English Premier League.

The momentous occasion unfolded during Fulham’s commanding 2-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Iwobi’s vital contribution came in the 72nd minute, when he orchestrated a breathtaking play, delivering a pinpoint cross to Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira, who coolly slotted home to secure Fulham’s victory.

Pereira’s goal not only sealed the win but also marked Iwobi’s 29th assist in the Premier League, a feat previously achieved only by Kanu during his illustrious career.

The 27-year-old maestro, who has donned the colours of top-flight clubs like Arsenal, joined Fulham from Everton last summer, bringing his creative flair to the heart of their midfield.

This season, Iwobi has been a key figure for Fulham, amassing 25 appearances and contributing five goals to their campaign.

Recently, he surpassed the record for the most minutes played by a Nigerian in Premier League history, a record previously held by former Chelsea legend John Mikel Obi.

Looking ahead, Iwobi will now set his sights on surpassing Kanu’s record, a goal that could potentially unfold in Fulham’s upcoming showdown against Liverpool next Sunday.
