One exciting game that really had fans cheering till the final whistle was between Al Merrikh and Remo Stars team B, as the NPFL side proved to be no match to the Sudanese giants during the last group stage game in Valuejet Cup.
The Sudanese Champions narrowly defeated the two-time NPFL runner-up to secure their place in the knockout stages of the preseason tournament, Footballrover reports.
The game was a chess match from the kickoff, with both sides probing for an early advantage.
However, the first half ended in a stalemate as the teams cancelled each other out in midfield.
The deadlock persisted for the opening 45 minutes, leaving the crowd yearning for a goal to ignite the contest.
The second half exploded into life as Samuel Anakwe gave Remo Stars a dream start, calmly slotting home to put his side ahead.
The Nigerian outfit seemed to have gained the upper hand, but Al Merrikh responded with typical resilience.

Mutaz Hashim rose highest to head home an equaliser, and the game was back on level terms.
The Sudanese side weren’t done yet. A moment of brilliance from Mohammed Gbane saw him find the net yet again, giving Al Merrikh a crucial lead.
Remo Stars desperately searched for an equaliser, throwing caution to the wind in the closing stages.
However, despite their efforts, they couldn’t find a way past the resolute Al Merrikh defence.
The final whistle confirmed a 2-1 victory for the Sudanese side, who now look forward to the knockout rounds.
Remo Stars, on the other hand, will be left to regret their missed chances and will have to regroup for the next challenge.
In the other Group A match, Ikorodu City played out a 1-1 draw with Shooting Stars.

This result sees Al Merrikh top the group with six points, followed by Ikorodu City on five. Remo Stars and Shooting Stars finish third and fourth, respectively.
