Ahead of Akwa United vs Rivers United clash, the coach of the Pride of Rivers, Stanley Eguma, has declared that his team intends to start the second round of the NPFL well and with a solid result in Uyo.
Akwa United and Rivers United will face off in one of the most anticipated matches in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022.
On March 20, the Wike Boys won the reverse fixture 4-1 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Rivers State.
If the Stanley Eguma team defeats the Promise Keepers on Saturday, they would have a chance to extend their lead atop the NPFL rankings.
The ‘Pride of Rivers’, on the other hand, know they’ll be up against a team desperate to turn around their league fortunes after picking up just one point in their last three games.
United’s technical manager, Stanley Eguma, expects a tough match, but is confident that his club won’t be heading back to Port Harcourt empty-handed.
“The game against Akwa United is a big game and we intend to start the second round well; with a good result in Uyo. We expect a difficult game and we have to work very hard if we must achieve our desired result,” Eguma said.
We’re in for a treat if Saturday’s game generates half as much enthusiasm as the reverse tie in Port Harcourt last month.
