The interim coach of Akwa United, Umar Abdullahi, has showered praise on his players for their disciplined performance in their recent victory against Plateau United.
The Promise Keepers secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Peace Boys at the New Jos Stadium last Sunday, Footballrover reports.
Gerome Heutchou from Cameroon and Sani Suleiman found the net for Akwa United, with Sunday Anthony responding for Plateau United.

Coach Abdullahi, in his post-match remarks, lauded his team’s resolve to clinch victory.
“We are very happy for the victory. We worked hard for it, and we thank God that we got all three points from this match,” he said.
The coach revealed that following their previous home match against Bendel Insurance, he stressed to his players the importance of positive results against both Gombe United and Plateau United.
He acknowledged the team’s commendable response, securing four points from the two away fixtures.
Abdullahi highlighted the necessity for his team to perform at their best against Plateau United, recognising their formidable strength and impressive home record.
He expressed delight in ending their poor away form, admitting to the significance of the victory in boosting morale and igniting the team’s desire for further success.

While the victory likely propelled Akwa United out of the relegation zone, they are currently tied on points with Bayelsa United in 18th position.
Their next challenge sees them hosting Doma United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday.
