Ademola Lookman is finding his rhythm again after scoring another important goal to help Atalanta seal a deserved 2-0 win over Fiorentina in their Serie A clash on Sunday evening.
The Super Eagles winger delivered Atalanta’s second goal at the New Balance Arena, continuing his sharp form with a calm finish inside the box, Footballrover reports.
Ademola Lookman Strikes Again as Atalanta Takes Control
It followed his goal and assist in the 3-0 Champions League win over Frankfurt, making this his second consecutive match on the scoresheet.
After a difficult start to the campaign, the 28-year-old is finally hitting his stride ahead of AFCON 2025.
He now has three goals and one assist in 14 appearances across all competitions. Lookman featured for 77 minutes before being replaced by Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Atalanta End Winless Run Under Palladino
Atalanta also secured their first Serie A victory under Raffaele Palladino, ending an eight-game winless streak and climbing to 11th place.
Both sides pushed early, with goalkeepers Marco Carnesecchi and David De Gea producing strong saves to keep the match level in the first half.
The hosts broke through before halftime when Odilon Kossounou curled a cross-shot into the far corner for his first Atalanta goal.
Fiorentina then wasted a big chance after the break as Moise Kean missed from close range. Minutes later, a poor clearance from a corner fell kindly to Ademola Lookman, who smashed home Atalanta’s second of the evening.
Fiorentina pushed late but were denied by Carnesecchi and the woodwork, leaving them winless and still in the relegation zone.
With AFCON 2025 kicking off in December, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle will be pleased to see Ademola Lookman returning to form at a crucial time for club and country.
